Today, we’re 89 days away from the kickoff of the 2012 college football season. As such, we’ll preview the No. 89 team in our Rant Sports 100 in 100 college football previews, the Western Michigan Broncos.
The Broncos finished 7-6 in 2011, ending the season with a rough 37-32 loss at the hands of the Purdue Boilermakers, but return a total of 11 starters on the two sides of the ball for their 2012 campaign.
A relatively light non-conference schedule and the return of Alex Carder at quarterback could signal more success for one the MAC’s perennially-strong programs.
Hungarian native and former cage fighter Norman Varga kicked off a quest today many of us couldn’t even fathom trying to complete: running 50 marathons in 50 days.
Varga will finish his quest by arriving in London on the 50th day just in time for the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games. A former cage fighter who suffered a serious arm injury as a child, Varga runs a foundation in Hungary which encourages young people to pursue an active lifestyle, a quality education, and careers in the arts and sciences.
he Oklahoma State Cowboys have dismissed sophomore running back Herschel Sims, who promised to be a heavy contributor this fall for Mike Gundy, if not the team’s workhorse back.
Sims allegedly stole $700 from teammate Jeremiah Tishimanga, by stealing his identification and using it to access his bank account without authorization.
Tishimanga identified Sims as the person who withdrew a total of $700 on two separate occasions from ATM machines in Stillwater, one withdrawal for $200 and another for $500.
Today, we’re 91 days away from the kickoff of the 2012 college football season. As such, we’ll preview the No. 91 team in our Rant Sports 100 in 100 college football previews, the Wyoming Cowboys.
Coming off an 8-5 finish in 2011– that concluded with a 37-15 loss to the Temple Owls in the New Mexico Bowl– the Cowboys return 14 total starters, including 8 on the defensive side of the ball, and should again be a force to be reckoned with in what could be another successful season in Laramie.
Head coach Dave Christensen enters his fourth season with the Cowboys with the most experienced and talented bunch he’s had since arriving on campus in 2008.
You could almost hear the cries ring out as soon as the ball was picked from the hopper with the New Orleans Hornets logo emblazoned across it during last night’s 2012 NBA Draft Lottery:
“It’s fixed!”
Take off the tinfoil hats, people.
